Dr. Torness is a Diplomate, American Board of Podiatric Surgery and Board certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. He received his Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology Nuclear Medicine from the University of Oklahoma - College of Allied Health, his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University and did his Podiatric Residency at Convenant Medical Center in Waterloo, IA.

He is a member of the South Dakota Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Torness and his wife, Lisa, have two grown daughters and six grandchildren. They enjoy spending time with their family, including two dogs, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
