Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) Full-Time
Position Summary
This position performs various moderate/complex chemical, microscopic, hematological, serological, virology, and bacteriological tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. This position also processes specimens for testing at BROWN CLINIC and outside reference labs, and performs phlebotomy functions.
 
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Responds to physician inquiries for routine or special laboratory tests.

Performs Phlebotomy functions, and obtains other laboratory specimens such as urine and other body fluids from patients.  Receives specimens collected by nurses or physicians using established laboratory  

Prepares slides for microscopic analysis, studies slides using microscope; or subjects specimens to automatic analyzing equipment to make qualitative and quantitative analysis; or manually tests specimens according to established procedures. 

Posts test results of laboratory analysis and quality control into the computer system.  Identifies and labels all specimens to be retained and filed for further reference and research.

Performs related duties to include cleaning and maintaining instrumentation in designated area, separating and routing specimens, and providing backup support for the processing of specimens


Qualifications
  • Requires a 2 year Associates Degree from an approved school of Medical Technology, and current registry as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.

  • Requires human relations skills, numerical ability, attention to detail, and accuracy to calculate test results, using standard formulas, and measure prescribed quantities of samples during tests.
