MRI Technologist - Full Time
Position Summary
The MRI Technologist operates MRI equipment and radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic images of designated portions of the body, processes images, and assists the Radiologist with procedures.  This position provides age appropriate care for patients with a wide variety of medical surgical conditions. 

Performs Radiologic Procedures:                                             90% of the Work Period
Performs Departmental Administrative Tasks:                10% of the Work Period

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

*1.     Performs responsibilities in a manner that is attentive to the developmental and chronological age of the patient population.
*2.     Screens patients for MR safety prior to procedure.
*3.     Performs complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts.
*4.     Maintains documentation for Accreditation purposes and is point of contact within the department for MR modality.
*5.     Performs other Radiological procedures when not performing MRI Duties including but not limited to x-ray and DEXA.
*6.     Arranges, attaches, or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to prevent patient motion and lessen patient discomfort.
*7.     Prepares and administers appropriate contrast material to patient as indicated by Radiologist, and assists Radiologist and other physicians with procedures.
*8.     Adjusts Radiologic equipment to proper distance and correct setting for each examination, positions and instructs patients, determines proper exposure factor for each radiograph and obtains images following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety; utilizing lead shielding when appropriate. Evaluates images for technical quality.
*9.     Performs quality control evaluations on processor and records results on a daily basis. Requests maintenance on processor and radiographic equipment as necessary.
*10.Performs various office clerical functions including but not limited to answering phones, entering orders, filing paperwork, sending images to outside facilities, requesting images from outside facilities, tracking patient procedure time, and maintaining general efficiency of department.
*11Performs EKG and rhythm strip exams.

*Essential functions per ADA guidelines.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:   Requires full range of body motion including the ability to stoop, kneel, reach, stand and walk for extensive periods of time; push, pull and grasp items, finger dexterity, eye/hand coordination, and the ability to lift or assist in lifting patients weighing in excess of 100 pounds using proper body mechanics.  Requires corrected vision (including depth perception), and hearing to normal range.

  • Graduate from an AMA-approved 2-year school of Radiologic Technology
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – MR (ARRT-MR) Certification
  • Prior X-ray experience is preferred.  Effective oral and written communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to function as a team member are also required.
