Director of Patient Care
Position Summary

  Within the framework of the goals and objectives established by the CAO, the Director of Patient Care provides overall leadership, management, and long term planning for patient care departments.  The Director works in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Director of Patient Engagement in providing guidance and supervision for Nursing Supervisor positions. 

The Director leads the overall management and communications for the clinical departments and provides financial and budgetary management, recruitment, retention, staff development for nursing, laboratory, imaging, occupational medicine and outreach clinics.  They maintain collaborating relationships with medical providers and multidisciplinary professional staff, fostering patient and staff relations with a focus on quality and safety, and ensuring professional, regulatory, and legal compliance.  The Director participates as a member of the leadership team in planning, policy development and administrative decision making with an attention to duties, responsibilities, and operations of patient care services. 


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required; candidate must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and holds a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of South Dakota.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership and management experience in area of responsibility is required.

  • Experience in human relations skills, and effective oral and written communication skills are required.

  • Proficient in use of computer and electronic medical record system, including MS Office.

  • Knowledge and experience in administration of policy and procedure processes.

  • Knowledge of employee management and thorough understanding of nursing management strategies

  • Knowledge of financial management

  • Knowledge of the foundations of health laws
