Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Full-Time
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant assists patients to examining rooms, takes vital signs, administers medications, and documents information. The position sets up and assists with lacerated patients, dresses wounds, takes cultures, and assists in cleaning and stocking rooms with supplies.

Typical physical demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids.

Typical working conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.


Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Vocational School for Medical Office Assistants. Current CPR Certification is preferred
  • Valid registration with the South Dakota Board of Medical Examiners is required prior to employment
  • Prior Medical Assistant work experience is preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, medical terminology, knowledge of sterile fields, medications and general office operations, and basic computer ability
  • Respect for and ability to follow Clinic's Confidentiality Policy
  • Annual skills competency training will be mandatory
